Adoration Chapel

In the late 1600s, Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary and asked her to spend an hour before Him, present in the Blessed Sacrament. He said, "I thirst to be loved by men." In 1996, the Harrisburg Diocese opened a perpetual adoration chapel in each deanery. Saint Margaret Mary Parish opened its convent chapel as the Sacred Heart Adoration Chapel for the Dauphin Deanery so that parishioners and those of surrounding parishes could come at any time to fulfill His desire to be adored and loved. Only God can measure the consolation, love and adoration which has been offered to Jesus since then and only God can measure the blessings, love and graces which have been bestowed on us in return.

The chapel is open all day and all night for private prayer before the Lord Jesus, present in the Blessed Sacrament and perpetually exposed. It is a way of maintaining awareness of God's presence in our lives and keeping vigil for the community, the church and the world. Please visit the chapel located in the convent between the school and parish office at 2848 Herr Street in Harrisburg.

The Sacred Heart Chapel is available for adoration 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To access the chapel between 7:00 pm in the evening to 7:00 am in the morning, an entry code is required for access. Did you know...

The actual name of the chapel is the Chapel of the Sacred Heart. The chapel is the adoration chapel for the entire Harrisburg deanery and not just for St. Margaret Mary parish. Adorers are welcome from all the parishes because covering 24 hours a day for 7 days each week takes a lot of manpower.

To sign up for your own regular weekly hour with Jesus or for prayer requests, call Betsy Schaedler at 717-756-4897 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
