Regathering as a Parish Community

Bishop Gainer is permitting a limited return to Public Holy Mass and a partial reopening of Church buildings for Parishes in ‘Yellow Phase’ counties. Please understand that this process will cautiously proceed according to the directives of the Diocese of Harrisburg, informed by the guidelines of Government Authorities and Public Health Officials, and prudential pastoral judgement (each parish will implement reopening differently due to various factors, including physical circumstances, community dynamics, health concerns, etc.). To this end, given the number of cautions remaining in place, there should be no expectation of simply returning to our early-March status of Parish life.

Welcome

In the Catholic Church the Mass is the center of the prayer life of the faith community through which the blessings and benefits of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross continue to flow for God’s people. It is a commendable thing to call on God’s beneficence for the expiation of sins through His gift of mercy and the healing effects of His grace for loved ones living and deceased and for special intentions we may have.

Adoration Chapel

In the late 1600s, Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary and asked her to spend an hour before Him, present in the Blessed Sacrament. He said, "I thirst to be loved by men." Over 14 years ago St. Margaret Mary Parish opened its convent chapel so that parishioners and those of surrounding parishes could come at any time to fulfill His desire to be adored and loved. Only God can measure the consolation, love and adoration which has been offered to Jesus since then and only God can measure the blessings, love and graces which have been bestowed on us in return.

The chapel is open all day and all night for private prayer before the Lord Jesus, present in the Blessed Sacrament and perpetually exposed. It is a way of maintaining awareness of God's presence in our lives and keeping vigil for the community, the church and the world. Please visit the chapel located in the convent between the school and parish office at 2848 Herr Street in Harrisburg.

Did you know???

The actual name of the chapel is the Chapel of the Sacred Heart. The chapel is the adoration chapel for the entire Harrisburg deanery and not just for St. Margaret Mary parish. Adorers are welcome from all the parishes because covering 24 hours a day for 7 days each week takes a lot of manpower.
